Going to doubles this spring, and wondering what the best course of action is reg wise.

Here's what I have now:

Primary: AL Legend LX Supreme on 7' hose (DIN)
Alternate: AL Legend LX Supreme on necklace (DIN)
Sling bottle: DiveRite RG2500 (DIN)

So the question is, how do I configure for doubles?

Do I simply put my current stuff to work doing "double duty"?

Am I better off with seperate rigs: one for doubles and one for singles?

If so, do I use the Legends for doubles or get something new?

My LDS doesn't sell AL; they do sell Atomic, Oceanic, ScubaPro, DiveRite, Sherwood, Genesis, Dacor/Mares.

Diving will be predominantly NJ Wreck Diving, though I do travel frequently for work so like to bring my gear along to get a few dives in.

I suppose the easiest would be to simplly set up two rigs; one for doubles, one for singles.

I should have stayed with collecting high-end Swiss watches; less confusing and probably less expensive in the long run!

:-)

When I went to dubs, after a few dives I got way tired of breaking down my single reg set and my wife's single reg set and re-configuring them for the twins. What a hassle.

Soon after I started experimenting with the dubs, I found someone who was selling a couple of Z1's cheap - and I figured why not? I'll give it a try, and it I hate the dubs I'll ebay then. I dive a B1, my wife dives a B1 - I can simplify my servicing by keeping all my regs in the family if I keep them. I had twin regs before I even had twin tanks or even a twin wing of my own.

Fast forward a few months - turns out I like diving dubs. I really like it. Got me some PST 95's for dirt. And the Z1's are perfect. I don't need a swivel reg for doubles regs, and the Atomic hose routing is about the best I've ever seen for doubles.

I'm SO glad I went to dedicated reg sets.

Still looking for another cheap Z1, Z2 or B1 for my Deco bottle so I can stop pulling apart my wife's B1 rig everytime I take the 40 out....

You'll get tired REAL fast of taking things apart and putting them back together, and you'll buy a set of doubles regs.

The ones I bought for my husband are Zeagle DSVs. They came highly recommended, and he loves them, and best of all, they were AMAZINGLY inexpensive. Under $300 apiece from Scubatoys, with warranty.

On the other hand, you could end up like me, and dive your doubles all the time, and wonder why the singles regs sit in the sink.

Same thing, got tired of the switching back to back and finally decided to make my abyss' for my doubles and bought an apex xtx200 (through a keyman program) and am going to use it when I dive singles. I would have rather gotten another abyss but with the price I got the Apeks for I decided to take that route.

Seriously though let me know if you want another Aqua Lung reg, I work for an authorized dealer not that far from you.

Not to hijack the thread but do you guys have only one set of doubles regs or do you also have a backup set?

My wife's and my singles rigs are now my back up doubles regs...

:D :D :D

One set of doubles regs, one singles reg, but my husband has both as well, so unless we're diving together, we have backups.

why would you want to dive a single after doubles lol heck with that but if you are going to i leave my regs on my doubles and have seperate for a single but its mainly a back up reg for my doubles also have an extra set as double back ups

You will defintely want separate set ups for singles and doubles including not only regulators but also BP wings.

The Legend LX Supreme is an excellent reg equal to the Apeks ATX200. Aqualung makes both and both are very similar top end designs so don't let any one sell you a load about the Apex being better. I'd use the Legends on the doubles and get a new reg for single tank diving.
