Hey there,

I will be doing my DM in the fall and have been on the internet the past couple of weeks gathering info on what would seem to be a great spot to do the course. As far as location goes, Cayman won the short list, Bonaire and Utila were also initially considered. Which brings me to where to take the course in the Caymans? It seems I have 2 options, either at Cayman Diving College with GoPro Cayman, or Cayman Diving School.

I wish to first get my DM certification followed by the IDC course and have roughly 3 months to do so. Feedback on either centers would be awesome, and perhaps another center I am not aware of that would offer those courses. Cheers, enjoy the water!

For your DM, you have many options. Any of the larger dive ops - DiveTech, Ocean Frontiers, Don Foster's, Sunset House and several others - can do it.

For the IDC, I believe your options have all been mentioned.

I will take the IDC with GoPro Cayman. One of the reasons is the training coordinator, Dave Patterson. I know him, I've gone diving with him and I trust him.

No one could argue with that reasoning.

If it were me, I would do the DM course with Don Foster's Diving. There, you would be able to work almost daily
with cruise ship divers who will present you, the trainee, with an endless stream of problems to solve and difficulties to
overcome. At places like DiveTech and Ocean Frontiers, you will be dealing with more experienced divers who therefore present fewer tasks for the DM; your main duty will be carrying tanks. I assume, of course, that you are doing the internship option.

Thanks everyone for the insight. To Alex777, the "cruise ship diver" approach makes sense, didn't think about that one, should be challenging, I'll check out Don Forster's Diving course and what they can offer, cheers.
