But I remember hearing about life in Kuwait when I was in junior high school.

If I recollect correctly, the per-capita income was one of the highest in the world. The government paid for all schooling through a bachelors degree, and all college graduates were awarded a car.

Granted I'm pulling that out of memories that have been beer-logged _many_ times, but that's what I recall.
