FreeFloat:
I was certified Oct 26, 2003. My main goal for this year is to top 100 dives before the end of 2004, hopefully before my "anniversary date" of my certification. I'm up to 39 dives now so I think I'll be able to do it.

With regards to training - I've got my Nitrox cert now, and next up is DIR-F and AOW in whatever order they happen to fall.

I don't know yet if it's doable, but I'd kind of like to make a trip down to Florida this fall and go see the caverns........
Update:

I'm at 90 dives right now, and at this rate I'll be hitting my 100th in a couple of weeks, 2 full months (and then some) short of my 1 year cert anniversary.................

:hyper: :hyper:

Updated goals for 2004:

1. Get Rescue certifed (done: April, 2004)

2. Complete Intro. to Cave (enrolled for August 14 class)

3. Complete at least 50 dives for 2004 (54th dive on 7/17)

4. Take a tropical dive vacation (went to Bonaire June 30-July 7)

My goals for 2004 included:

- complete my instructor training ... which I did in May

- take DIR-F ... which I did in June, although not to my satisfaction

- learn how to dive in doubles (hope to start in the next week or so)

- log my 1,000th dive (should happen in September ... I need 43 more dives)

- take advanced nitrox and/or rec triox class (late fall, hopefully)

... Bob (Grateful Diver)

1.Get dry suit cert. next week-end.2. Start my D.M. cert here in Alaska.3.Going diving in Coz. in Oct. get nitrox cert. wife get A.O.W. cert.4.Get D.M. cert done before we go back to Coz. in March.5.Dive devil t. in Coz.6.Go to Utila in 2006.

1) get my wife certified and off my back- She doesn't yet understand why I need to dive 3-4 times a week.
2) DIR-F just to watch the video of all my bad habits. I expect to FAIL (open to criticism)
3) Rescue w/cpr (so I can critique myself)
4) Back to Jamacia and dive the tail of the cayman trench.
5) Ice diver certification.

Disclaimer: These goals are set with no consideration of financial responsibility. 2 of the 5 goals have been paid for and are in effect. 1 more lotto win and financials will be mute.
By failing DIR-F, I automatically earn a pre-paid re-try in the next 6 months.
Hope my wife shares the same goals I do!

Here are some of my newbie goals:

1. Get my OW by August 22nd.

2. Find a local dive club and/or buddy willing to mentor a newbie.

3. Get several more local quarry dives in before the end of October and hone my basic skills (especially bouyancy and trim).

4. Do a couple of dive trips in FL this fall and winter.

5. Just for the fun of it, try Epcot's Dive Quest

6. Dive on an eastern Carribean cruise in May 2005 (Nassua, St Thomas, St Marteen).

7. Get lucky enough to get a dive in on a business trip to HI this winter.

8. Enroll in an AOW course.

9. Try Mid-Atlantic boat diving in the summer of 2005.

10. And finally.... pray, my wife forgives me for all the cash I laid out to get into this sport!
