In case you haven't heard it, conditions in Monterey are out of this world right now. I just got back from a 4 day Channel Islands cruise, and nowhere in either Catalina or San Clemente did I see visibility equal to what I saw today at Point Lobos. It was awesome! I rolled over on my back down 90' by the Cannery Point pinnacles and the kelp lying on the surface looked so close I thought I could reach up and touch it. I have never seen Monterey diving like this. I talked with some people at Lobos who said they did their first dive at Monastery this morning and they estimated the visibility at 100'. I believe it! It was like diving in the Caribbean...except for the 48F temperatures.

The bummer, though, is that I split a wrist seal on my dry suit after the last dive and now can't go down until Tuesday. It will be a zoo with all the people there for the races at Laguna Seca this weekend, but the diving is absolutely awesome. Even Breakwater is boasting 40' vis., so I hear.
