Thanks for all that,

I am now pretty much aware of all the issue.
And the point of AL 80's tanks seems to be very logic and i will take it in consideration also.

Anyway DINs are good but watch up for your head with skinny tanks.

If you purchase Yoke regs in the beginning and later have them changed out to DIN you will have the Yoke piece for travel.

That is how I started, Yoke and then changed over to DIN. This takes care of my local diving here in California.

Now and when I travel to places that only have the Yoke tanks, I will go down to my LDS and have the change out my DIN back to my Yoke and fly to my destination and have fun.

Because of this route I will avoid the DIN/Yoke adapter that adds bulk to your setup.

When I return I will change out back to DIN.

Hope this helps out...

Why not just buy the DIN regulator and ask for the yoke conversion kit to get the same effect as what you did?

I have a DIN setup and what I have found where I live in Utah is that I am one of maybe 5 divers that require the special DIN fill adapter, which they always misplace. I end up having to go to at least 2 different LDS just to get one fill.

If you do go DIN I would suggest getting your own fill adapter.

This elated to the tank refill or the first stage ?

Thanks KeysHunter,
I was making sure cos the thread was about the DIN Adapter of regulator first stage and not related to the tank.

Thanks again for the new info

I have all DIN regs, and greatly prefer that connection method.

BUT I would make certain you have easy access to DIN tanks on a regular basis if you decide to go with DIN regs. I own many tanks, so DIN is not an issue for me, but if I had to rent tanks, the numbers available to me would be much smaller, and fewer shops would have tanks that I could rent. So this answer depends very much on your local area and what's available... if there are only two shops that rent DIN, are you ok with that?

I don't like using my DIN-to-yoke adapter for the reason others pointed out... it makes my first stage stick out more and hits me in the back of the head. (Sooner than it would otherwise, at least) For one or two dives, no big deal, but for a serious trip where I will do lots of diving, that gets old really quick! (Especially since for dive travel it's frequently warm water where I do not wear a hood, unlike locally where I always have a thick hood) For any trip longer than 2-3 days, I'll convert my reg over for full-time yoke.
