Ishouldknowbetter and I headed up to Gloucester early on Saturday. We were headed out with Fred Calhoon on Easy Diver. Nice to see Fred, Chris and Peter again. With the wind blowing a good10-15 knots from the south we went up thru the river and heade north to Folly's cove. CAD was already there, anchored in close to the west wall so Chris dropped anchor off the eastern point. (The right side of the cove from shore) I've never been on that side of the cove before and it was great! Solid sheets of granite, boulders and loads of life. We saw a northern red anemonie! Beautiful! No bugs of the legal variety. Second dive we headed back towards Lanes Cove, and worked the breakwater to try and find dinner, but to no avail. Laurent said he saw TONS of small dead lobsters in about 20 feet. Ishouldknowbetter and I headed out while he headed in so we weren't in the same area and we didn't see that, but we did notice that EVERYTHING was covered with sand and dirt. The rain runnoff must have just DUMPED crap all over everything. It was like there was a cover of dust on everything. Even 5 feet off the bottom you were stirring things up as you swam by. Maybe thats what did in the bugs? As always on Easy Diver, Peters hot soup was like heaven afterwards.

Sunday morning came early. REAL early. We had stopped at my sisters on the way home for a surprise 75th birthday party for my Dad and didn't get home till around 10. The alarm at 5am was cruel. At the dock at 7 for a day with CAD. BooHoo ledge was AWESOME!!! Steve anchored in about 30 feet, stern to. We dropped down the line following an instructor and an advanced class. We dropped off the line as soon as the bottom came into view and followed a 5 foot wide split in the rock down to about 65 feet and the sand. A beautiful dive. We worked our way along the bottom and then followed another canyon back up the hill to the anchor line. At one point I was looking down the narrow split in the rock and there were 10-15 cod swimming just inside an hourglass opening. What a sight. I'm looking at them, and they're looking at me.

Second dive was at Kettle Island. We had a nice long dive, lots to see and a few things to catch. We got one softshell and a large crab. Only bad part of the day was leaving the drysuit bags in the forward cabin at CAD and not discovering it until we got to PG dive to return Ishouldknowbetter's rental suit. Oh well, it only took us just over an hour to round trip it there and back. Got there just as they were returning from the second trip.
