what do you guys think of proposing underwater? i think thats a truly unique idea that'd give her great stories to tell her friends "how'd he ask?" "we were diving at 80ft, found a flat spot on the bottom, and he had it written on his slate!" no good? better ideas? please share!

Saw a guy hang the ring on a piece of the Coral Reef. He called her over and pointed out "the new find".

My credentials: I'm a girl.
My opinion: I'd love it!

Plus: avoids the potential for awkward stammering.
Minus: no opportunity to kiss.
Minus: if she said no, you'd have wasted the dive! (Not that she would, with such an obviously romantic nice guy for a proposer!)

I like the ring hanging on coral idea.
The slate idea is good too, as long as she doesn't see it.
Maybe you could do the ring thing, but with a toy ring. ;)

Oooh, how romantic!

that's really sweet. i'd say yes!

another plus: air is cheaper than proposing over a nice dinner

I think it's a great idea! I read an account somewhere of someone who zip-tied a ring to his wetnotes, wrote the proposal on the notes, and handed it to the girl. I thought it sounded so romantic :)

But taking the ring down with you on a dive would be a little nerve wracking, I think a toy ring would be alright.

I think it is a great idea. But I would take the real McCoy down with me. When you buy the ring, you'll insure it that day - or at least you should. Don't propose in blue water and make sure you can easily get to the bottom in the event of butter fingers.

But as for the fake ring, and I can't stress this enough, NO girl dreams of being proposed to with a fake ring - especially if it was a plastic number. I would think it was a joke.

Oh...and maybe this is premature, but congratulations on your engagement.
