Hi all, off to Bali after a hip operation and house building has kept me out of the water for a year!

I will be 5 days in Tulamben (LDR) and then 3 days in Gili T. I am a, mainly macro, photographer and I am wondering what the muck diving is like in Gili T. Staying at Jali Resort and it is about 0.5k's from dive shops.

Any ideas about dive shops with good guides for macro. I assume April is not the season for Manta rays?

happy new year to you all.

There is one decent white sand muck site in the area. I think it called Hans not absolutly sure on the name, and the shop I use on Gilli Air has done some black sand muck dives on the Lombock coast. Most divers on the Gillis aren't usually looking for muck dives but tell your shop choice that you like to shoot macro and maybe they will accommodate you.

Thanks DF. If the manta's are there and the water is clear then that is an opportunity I would not miss. In 40 years of diving I've seen manta's many times but always in poor viz! Just unlucky I guess...

Cant stay at LDR in Tulamben as it is booked out, so I grabbed the opportunity to have a look and see over 3 days.

The Gillis aren't really known for manta. Manta Point off Lembongan is pretty reliable.
Yeah Tulamben is the best for macro, I usually just do a afternoon dive every so often when I'm on GA. I load up on macro in Tulamben first. I love GA for chilling with the wife.

Ardy,
Jetty Tanah ampo Padang bai is my favorite dive site for macro - great for WA too.
Lot of frog fish and saw three Rhino 2-years ago.
Not sure if still dive able or as good as before. I heard there's some construction activity to rebuild the jetty for its function.
Check with Gekko
