Hi all...Chad asked me to work on setting up a date for a possible Northern meeting of the KPP at wonderful (yet always seemingly crowded) Gilboa Quarry. I was thinking of late Nov. or early Dec.

Let me know what you guys think, and we'll work on setting something up. Talk to y'all l8r

Here's what's going on...

This weekend (Nov 1/2) is obviously out.

Next weekend (9/10) there is the "Christman tree" dive at Gilboa...Everyone brings an ornament and puts it on Mike's little u/w tree that (last year) he put on the plane. You want to go...fine, but there will probably be like 200 other morons up there running around...and it won't be a lot of fun (plus I don't think any of us want to deal with it).

The following weekend (16/17) is a definite possibility with school and me. Dan and Brian won't be able to dive Sunday (Bengals - Browns game), I think Ber and her hubby will be able to make it, as well as others from school.

The next weekend (23/24) I am the only one that won't be there so if you want to avoide me...go that weekend.

The weekend after that (30 / Dec. 1)is the weekend after Thanksgiving, and I know that Our course director is off that weekend and might want to go. However, Ber and her hubby will not be free.

O.K. the other option is doing this in December, which I don't mind, but anyone else who will be diving wet might have a problem with.

If you want to check out the Gilboa site it is

Let me know what you guys think

I am headed out of town tomorrow for the weekend but I can't wait to get back next week and see what you all have worked out.

December probably works best for me but I will see what everyone else has to say as I can probably make it in Nov. too.

Just guessing Scott but I am going to say COLD. But I am sure an expert will weigh in soon.

I should visit this place, after all the address for the quarry is "Ottawa, Ohio" sounds pretty close to "Ottawa, Ontario" don't you think?

according to this site Gilboa Quarry November has 30 ft at 55F, and 50ft at 52F and below 70ft is in the 40F range -- toasty don't you say?:D

Let me know when you (KPP) are going to gilboa, i live about 30 mins from there, and usually dive there quite a bit (EARLY in the morning or else vis is 10ft. from all the divers). Also, i would assume there will be less and less people going there due to the winter months encroaching upon us. Whoever heads up the KPP (Big-t?) email me about the club, and when you guys will have a definite date on going.

DivingGal, Come on down we would love to have you.

SSI, the club is just a group of us from the board that get together and dive. Right now the only membership requirements are that you have to come dive with us. We set our trips up right here on the board so keep an eye on the Kentucky section and come on out. BTW, there are other groups from around the world so if you are going to be somewhere check the NDI section and if see if that place has a local group and try to hook up and dive with them. The number of groups seems to be growing pretty quick.

Chad

It won't be this year, but a girl's gotta make plans for "local" diving next year, and I'll keep it in mind. It should be about a day's trip.... so with a few other stops here and there, a plan should come together.

I figure the temps / conditions will be the same in our quarry up here -- I'll find out on Saturday when I help welcome new divers (DMing an OW class)

You guys still planning to head to the Great Lakes / St Lawrence sometime?

you should go the weekend of December 7-8th or the roll-over weekend of November 30th - December 1st... just a thought :D
