I saw on the news that Ottawa had some extensive flooding and was looking to see if there was any info on Gilboa. I know it is a ways above the river but you never know!

Has anyone heard anything?

I talked to Mike yesterday. He said that he has been sandbagging for 36 hrs. straight to keep the Blanchard out of the quarry; however, some river water has leaked through the walls into the quarry making the viz as bad as he has ever seen: about 2 ft. He was also sandbagging around the parking lot and office area to try and keep water out of those areas. He has not been to his own home for 3 days because he can't get to it, so he doesn't know what he'll find when he gets there. His house is only about 200 yds. from the river. Friends of Mike, keep him in your prayers, especially concerning his home. The quarry will recover. I don't know if Mike has insurance, or can even get insurance, for flooding when that close to the river. If anyone hears anything else, please post. If anybody has any ideas how we can help, let us know, but first, we have to be able to get to the quarry. I don't know if the river has gone down enough yet. I know it has crested, but I haven't heard how much it as receded.

Man this hasn't been his year!!

I saw on another forum that there is another storm front moving in towards Gilboa. WB416 spoke to Jody this morning, and she is requesting sandbagging help, for anyone that is able to help.

My prayers go out to them.

Yep, the rain isn't done yet. I wish I lived closer I would go help.

I come in from the North and usually go through Ottawa on 15 to get to the quarry. Can we get there via 15? If not, there's not much we can do until the water goes down. Any suggestions, please post.

Might call the OH troopers and see what they have to say. Also their web page might do.

Sharing (copy/paste) a post from ZD, made by Brando...

"I spoke w/Mike & Jody this afternoon. I was told that folks can get there to help by taking the exit that is 1 exit south of 224 on 75 ( I believe it is 12). Then head west to 53 and go north up to 224. Jody says that there is a "road closed" sign there, but the road does infact, go thru to Gilboa.
They're in need of food, water, gas for the generators, tarps, viscuine (sp?), extension cords, lighting, flashlights, pumps, and generators...and of course, manpower.
Best,
Brandon"

Anyone from central Indiana, or Ohio (along 75 from the south, as I'm coming from Indianapolis) interested in carpooling up there? I'm waiting to see if I have a couple things in order (mainly for my kids), and if so, I will head that direction at any time. If things work out, I'd be able to take some food and water and help to sandbag.

Lemme know. (Again... I'm not a "go" yet... trying to get some things in order for my kids first.)

Got off the phone with WB a bit ago. He said it was great to see all the volunteers. They bagged all the sand and needed to lay the bags yet. And a whole bunch of new people showed up. Bags were laid quite quickly.

Sounds like they've done everything they can for now.
But we can pray.

If you do head that direction please be careful near any flooded roadways. I don't think Mike could handle anything happening to someone!
