Hello,
First off, I'm brand new to Scuba Board so if I make a fax pas please let me know. Anyway, We're headed to roatan for 10 days in Feb. We will be staying in a rental house in Gibson Bight and I was wondering if there are dive shops close by that anyone would recommend? There will be two divers interested in boat dives and if possible shore dives as well. We'd like to avoid the cattle boat type dives if possible. I've searched the posts and have found out lots of info, but haven't found any specific to Gibson Bight. This is our first trip to the bay islands, so any and all information/tips concerning the area would be great. Thanks for the help!

I'm not sure there is a diveop in Gibson Bight. Anthony's Key Resort is a short distance to the east.

Other options in the West End nearby would be Coconut Tree Divers (recommended by me often) Reef Gliders, West End Divers, Native Sons, Sueno Del Mar and others.

We never had more than 12 on our boat with CTD all week. A lot of dives it was just the 7 of us. And a couple of DM's/Instructors as they sometimes train in the afternoon. Good people, great service, good boats.

Here's a recent post of mine describing shorediving in that area. Sandy Bay is nearby. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/bay-islands/360766-shore-diving-sandy-bay.html#post5599338

As mentioned, Gibson Bight is somewhat simply West Sandy Bay or East West end so operators in either place should work for you and as already posted in the thread Steve linked to you will see that shore diving can be an issue with equipment rental and or shore access, it would appear Steve was not able to do any that he mentioned.
I would suggest you ask the property owner if they have any insight as to who or where. I certainly do not book or try to book for folks at my home but i have a few shops i work with and suggest on occasion depending on needs, perhapse the owner of the rental your are staying at can do the same.

I live in Gibson Bight, There are 2 PADI dive shops located close to where I live, but they are both located in Sandy Bay. They are called Tranquil Seas and Octopus Divers (behind the Blue Bahia restaurant which by the way is a great restaurant). Shore diving is possible as the reef is not that far from shore in Gibson Bight, but snorkeling there is great! When my wife and I are not busy running our dive center in West End, we often relax by snorkeling our to the reef right in front of our house! Have a good time on your vacation here. Lee, Enomis Divers.
