I need a bit of advice.
We are traveling to Utila via roatan in a couple of weeks. We are taking Capt Verns Nina Elizabeth II cat to Utila instead of a plane....We need to get to West end from the airport and are their any taxi/van services that are preferrable that I could be reffered to or do we just take our chances......How much ???anyone know??? Best way to get thru customs...any tricks....I know thisw is a alot of questions...any answers would be appreciated
Thanks

There's a 2+ mile difference between West Bay and the West End so make sure you specify the correct one when arranging a cab. General advice is to agree on the fare up-front also.

Tips to make your Roatan visit easier

If you have at least 4 in your party, it would be worthwhile to e-mail Enrique at tours@roatanadventuretours.com. Enrique has a large, comfortable van which will transport you and your luggage from the airport to the pier to catch Vern's Cat.

I highly recommend both Vern and Enrique. You will have a great time.

Depending how many peolpe you got a taxi could run $25 (~500 Lem) for singles to $5 (~100 Lem) per person for larger groups. as mentioned above set a price before going, and a lesson learned the hard way whie was there dont ask them how much to take you. tell them a price (with in reason) and more then likely they will do it. most of the taxis are pretty good, but they all know that your not from there and will charge you more then what a local would pay.

another options is the bus. I would diffently make arrangement before hand for one and get a set price before.

Good luck hope that helps and enjoy your trip

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I talked to Vern and I believe he said West End...not west Bay...I will call him to confirm just before we leave the states. and We have hooked up with Enrique so we are all set there....Thanks again...Scuba Board Rocks!

Where does one find out more about Cpt Vern's Nina Elizabeth II and when it leaves? I might be going from Roatan to Utila in May and would love to know more about it. A quick web search didnt find anything concrete.
