I just bought a Fantasea focusing light that fits snugly on the second bracket of my underwater strobe kit. The intention was to use it to help focussing during night-diving photography or while peering into dark crevasses etc. But I noticed that the light is very white, bright and even and wondered whether I can also use it for taking close underwater video clips with the same still camera? I use a Canon compact with housing and so a Red Filter is not an option. Still photography is not a problem because of the strobe; but all the video clips I take with the camera show the inevitable blue cast.

So, if I have the focusing light on and shoot video clips at full (or almost full) zoom while staying reasonably close to the objective (within 10 feet), can I eliminate the blue cast and also avoid hot spotting? With practice I can adjust the zoom to avoid dark edges at the periphery.
