I get it off with my bare hands quite easily nowadays after a few times as I sometimes change my Zen dome port with the Zen pana 45mm macro port in between dives depending on locations of the dive sites....

Thanks for the suggestions. I enlisted the help of the muscular teenager & have now removed it successfully. I was surprised at how much sand had accumulated on the outer O-ring, but then I am mostly a shore diver & sand is an occupational hazard.

Unless you have to changing lenses, leave ports alone. I found, following some chats with old housing maintenance guy who worked on my old film housing that too much on and off can lead to leaks. May not be relevant with new housings but looking at mine I think it is just as important.

Just took off my port for first time in 2 years (since new) and strap did the job but not easy. Put in extension for 1.4TC and greased and did it up. Hopefully wont touch it for another few years.

i use mine without the locking tab all the time. with the amount of force needed to put the port in, there is no way, no way it come undone underwater. and i use plenty of silicone grease on the port to slide it in.

Don't use to much silicone grease. It is meant to prevent leaks and not as to make installing the port easier. I have read that too much silicone grease can also cause leaks. Once the port has been on and off a few times it usually isn't that difficult to get on and off especially if you have a strap wrench which costs only a few bucks.
