Giggi, I was there mid-Dec and didn't find anything to be more expensive then the trip before, which was April. Compared to other places we go diving, Cozumel is very affordable for meals and any other stuff you might want.

Wildcard, enjoy the cenotes. They are very cool and something you won't get anywhere else. Did you book a private guide or are you going to Hidden Worlds? If you got a guide, ask about going to Gran Cenote, Carwash or Taj. If you're doing Hidden Worlds, try and get them to let you do Dreamgate.

I have been going for 12 years and prices have been creeping up every year. Yes I would bring about 10-15% more for food this year. It seems to me that most café's have raised their prices about 10% since last year. I was there in Jan. Feb. March, Sept and Dec of 05 and just 3 weeks ago. Prices in Sept which is slow season after Emily were about 5% higher than last Feb. Prices in this past Dec and last month just a bit higher than Sept.
May be that their cost have risen due to the shortages right after the storms but they did not come back down as of last month.
You can still get good deals at some of the café's away from the tourist part of town.

"everything" as in ... ? Are you speaking from the experience of someone who has gone in prior years? I'm just curious since we were down a year ago, if I should plan on taking more cash for food and entertainment?

What entertainment? ;^)

Food prices are about what they are in the States (excluding San Francisco and other tourist Meccas here). I don't think you'll find much, if any, difference in prices from a year ago. Cozumel has gotten more expensive since the "good old days" when everything was so cheap there, but that was 10-15 years ago.

I have not been in Mexico for a few years. I am comparing to what I would pay at home. I seem to recall a time when Mexican prices were cheaper than back home not double. We rode motorcycles out of town for about 8 miles where we came upon a sign that said, "we survived Wilma" so we decided to pay them a visit. After charging us $80 for 4 cokes and practically begging for the change from a $100peso note we decided to have supper elsewhere.
