The Houston Underwater Film Festival takes place this year on on Apr 29th and 30th at the Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston.
Tickets are now available at this link.
I'll admit that I didn't really understand the format when I bought tickets last year. These aren't Hollywood feature-length films like you'd go to Cinemark to watch, nor are they hour-long documentaries. All of the films are 5 mins max, many are much shorter. Saturday attendees will get to see the Respect and Protect the Oceans, Art House Flicks, and Short Video categories. Sunday's guests will watch the Feature Length-Wide Angle, Feature Length-Macro, and Made in Texas categories. After each category, YOU get to vote on your favorites straight from your phone to determine the winners. The awards reception including a raffle drawing is worth attending too.
For those who can't make it in person, there's a video-on-demand option for watching remotely during the first week of May.
It's a great event for the Houston SCUBA community. Hope you can make it!
