Hello,

I just got a gift - a cute Sony DSC-T77 camera. I was very happy to find out that there is a housing available for it for 190US. However, I never used camera without external strobe (I have an access to Sea Life cameras at work) and I believe a strobe cannot be fixed to Sony housing (?). Is it worth buying a housing or shall I invest in buying one of the Sea Life (or similar) sets? What will be the quality of the pictures taken with my new Sony if I take it diving? Does anyone know? If not, what do ya think? Thanks!

House the Sony say I. I've been using Sony's for 5 years now. You can look at my home page for many many examples. I've always been pleased with the Sony and the internal flash. Just get close and use the flash.

I should point out in fairness, that I have recently crossed over to the dark side and got an Olympus. Hey what can I say Sony discontinued the P-series.

i started with a little sony p7 and got some nice pictures from it before i upgraded. i never used an external strobe with it, but it was small and compact, easy to slip into a pocket to take a snap of something on a dive where i didn't want to take my oly. i do find it useful to have and when i had a flood in the summer (poor camera died) i had no hesitation in replacing it from ebay.

the decision's yours, hope my experience helps.
