I have always said you should learn something new every day. Unfortunately, many of us are at that age where what we learn today, we forget tomorrow. But, give it a shot anyway!............

In all honesty, I did not research the facts as listed, just thought them an interesting read. If there are any corrections to be made, I would certainly be happy to see them.

Well, the one about the Interstate Highway system is not true. http://www.snopes.com/autos/law/airstrip.asp

The one about Tidikelt is true.

The height of Angel Falls is correct, I don't know how it compares to Niagara, but it is much higher.

I don't know if Siberia has 25% of the worlds forests, it's certainly big enough and it has some beautiful forests (800,000 square miles), but there are also vast regions of tundra, permafrost, and steppe.

I'm pretty sure Istanbul is not the only city on two continents. I once met a lady from the Ural mountains. She lived in Europe and worked in Asia. I believe she did that in the same city, although I can't swear to it.

That's wrong about Istanbul? When I was there, the locals claimed it to be true and I thought I had heard it elsewhere, but...

I don't believe it's the only such city. I think there's at least one more located in the Ural mountains. It's very difficult to locate a map that shows the border between Europe and Asia as well as cities located near/on the border.

While that may have been its name under Spanish rule, the actual name has long been simply "Los Angeles." Even Olvera Street, considered the oldest part of the city, is simply named "El Pueblo de Los Angeles."

There is a SoCal city whose name is almost always shortened from its official version, and that's San Buenaventura, more commonly known as just Ventura.

Was it Atyrau?

I used to live in Pennsylvania, Try interstate 81, very little of it is straight and could be used as an airstrip. The wings of a plane would get sheared off by a mountain.

Also Damascus , Syria I am sure there is some city in China that was inhabited earlier. The problem is we only look at western history, not eastern history.
