Since when are maryland, west virginia and western pa in the southeastern part of the country. We are north of the mason dixon line and not in the southeast. South east are virginia, the carolinas and florida. Somebody better get an atlas out.

OK I gave it awhile to try to get used to but I don't like the new set up lumping some of the US regions together geographically and some not. and since when isn't Florida in the south east and California in the west are you making a statement of some sort? or is it based on the number of posts in certain regions? feel free to move this to whine and cheese if you like.

Actually, the Mason-Dixon Line is the original north-south boundary of the Colonies. The line was surveyed between 1763 and 1767. It was a demarcation between Pennsylvania and Delaware to the north and Maryland and Virginia to the south. Virginia and Maryland are considered southern by the M-D Line. During the Civil War, West Virginia was separated from Virginia and was admitted to the Union as a separate state, most of which is below the M-D Line.

Never realized were pert near one of them Southerners did ya!

John

Also, let us not forget that Virginia originally claimed the area around Pittsburgh. Too bad they didn't leave it that way. Let's face it, west of the Susquehanna, with the exception of State College, is really Northern West Virginia or Eastern Ohio.
