General rule of thumb for fin size?

I tried looking and had difficulty finding the answer, so:

VERY BROADLY speaking, is there any general correlation between shoe sizes and standard fin sizes? (ie, most XLs fit sizes 9-11, etc.)

Apologies if I've regurgitated another done-to-death thread.

There may be, but wether or not you are diving dry/wet will affect the shoe opening size of the fins, so will different booties. Get the booties first, and then fit the fins.
 
makesure that whatever fintype you have, the fins fit a little looser than you would have your shoes.

Kinda like shoes without socks is how I discribe it to my students. Any tighter and you will get cramping of the feet.
