I am looking at getting either a Suunto Gekko or Oceanic Veo200 computer in a console. Does anyone have any suggestions either way? I hate to say it but this could decided which regulator I end up with. With the Suunto comes a TX-50, while the Veo200 comes with a Zeagle Flathead6.

I would prefer Suunto for 2 reason:
1. Price. Gekko: $250, Veo: $341
2. The Suunto name itself

Gekko with the Apeks i wouldnt even have think twice about this

Why not get the gekko wrist mounted ???

The reason I don't go with a wrist mounted computer is that I want to see how much air I have every time I look at the computer. It seems like it would be too easy to forget to look at your air consumption because you still have computer bottom time. If my air is next to the computer it will be harder to forget.

The reason for a wrist computer is I look at it 20-30 time per dive my SPG I look at 4-5 time per dive. It is easier to look at your wrist than your console all the time. Next logical stop would be an AI computer on your wrist.
Suunto and Apek make a very good pair, with them you can’t go wrong and will use them for years to come.

...that may work very well for you, but for less experienced divers it is much better if they check their SPG with a much higher frequency.

I'm not sure in California, but that's the price in my LDS in Jakarta, Indonesia. it is the wrist model, LeisurePro has it for $275.
