Once you have the transfer cable ($35?) and software Suunto - Downloadable Software - Suunto Vyper - Diving Instruments (FREE)
Go to Liquid Image Photo than click "Suunto Tools".
You want the 'Gekko Download' file.
It works by changing One byte in the Gekko's memory. That byte is used to hold an 'ID' that is read by the Suunto dive logging program. If it reads a Gekko ID the program reports that it is unavailable for download. The patch changes that byte to read a Vyper ID, and the Suunto program is happy as a clam. The Byte is NOT used internally in the Gekko and as long as you don't change anything else - sample rate, personal info, ect and you change the Gekko back ( the patch allows this) there is no way to tell you it did it, so the warrantee stays valid.

R0gue's method works if you want to access the data using the Suunto Dive Manager software (PC software).

If you have a Mac, then you don't need to run the Gekko-to-Vyper patch at all. Download and use the software called MacDive. Simply transfer profile data from the computer using the transfer cable. Very easy.
