I was just diving in Cozumel, and rented a BCD/regulator, and they had a nice way of keeping everything together: they applied numeric rubber tags, like luggage tags, to my whole set. The tags were rubber, about 3 inches long, with a tear drop shape (and my whole set was #17). Very smart idea, and I have other applications I could use something like this for.

Does anyone have an idea where these are available commercially? Sorry dont have a photo to post...
