I just got signed up for my class, and got my gear. (mask, snorkel, & fins)

My question is, what should I stow my gear in the meantime?

Also can anyone recomend anything I can transport my gear in, to take to class?
I don't think it'll matter much. It doesn't get very cold there nor hot this time of year so it all should ride in your car trunk just fine - as long as in a bag. For now, pick up a $10 canvas tote bag big enough for your fins - with extra room for towel and other goodies. The larger the better maybe, in case you need to transport more to your OW check-out dives.

Have fun...!

If you have an old gym bag laying around then by all means use it. It will work just fine for what you need.

If you have your heart set on spending money and your going to buy a bag, may I suggest a large mesh duffle bag made for hauling dive gear. Get a nice sturdy one and it will last for years. It's mesh so your stuff will air out and dry too. They are great on dive boats because they can squish around into corners and not take up tons of space. Here's one http://www.leisurepro.com/Prod/BLRMBDXL.html to give you an idea of what they look like. You can find them everywhere and range in price from $15 to $50.

It may be a little big right now as you take it back and forth to the pool but it wont be very long before you find it full of your own gear
Still I think using the gym bag right now would be just fine.

$20 action packer , it will be big enough to carry and store all your gear when you get it. Just make sure you get one that fits in your car

I picked up a cheap hard plastic container at Target (or it might have been WalMart). That helps to keep the gear out of the sun. Be sure and keep your silicone (mask/snorkel) away from any neoprene rubber (boots). The black neoprene will bleed into the clear silicone, turning it an ugly grayish black. I keep my mask in the plastic case it came in. I have since picked up a Stahlsac mesh gear bag ($50) in preparation for a boat trip, but that certainly isn't required initially.

I second the mesh duffel. It's carry your stuff fine now, and as NAUIDiver mentioned, their great for letting stuff dry. After you get your full compliment of gear the mesh bag can be wadded up and stuffed out of the way, then pulled out when you need a little extra, especially good for wet neoprene and stuff that's slow to dry.

I agree witht the mesh duffel or backpack. It lets it air out and doesn't collect the smell nearly as bad as putting in a bag or a container. All of them will work but you will appreciate having one if you travel also. Makes it easier.

If you are diving local, then the action packer, large cooler, etc. works great. Rinse your gear in it and it doesn't get your car all wet after the dive. But you can't travel with them easily.

That's exactly what I use. Cheap, fairly tough, doubles up as a rinse tank in pinch. Useful as a seat for putting on your exposure suit.

If you are using a more or less sealed plastic box besure your gear is dry after you wash it. Long term in the box = moldy moldy.

The action packer is just one of several useful boxes. I've seen others use a large ice chest. The ice chests are a bit stronger for sitting down, and quite a bit heavier.

Personally I'm not a big fan of gear bags, and the huge, heavy, expensive Pellican type cases seem like over kill, but I'm sure each has it's place.

I use the large rubber made from target. It was like 6 bucks. Fits all the gear, and you can use it to rinse out your gear. It also fits nice in the closet for storage. You also dont have to worry so much about anything crushing it.
