Hi there everyone.

My name's Jay. I'm married, 39 and I'm a little bit hooked on sharks.

I've been diving for only 3 years. My wife and I decided to get certified as a means of overcoming awkwardness in water and it's sort of taken over our lives.

I'm PADI AOW with Nitrox and SSI Deep, Wreck and Shark Diver. I have 75 dives as of today. I do plan on getting around to my dm cert eventually, but cash and timetables are a drama. Given where I live I should do my cave certs I know, but the idea just hasn't excited me yet.

I've done a fw dives in the Similans and off Phuket. A few up the east coast of Australia, and of course my local stuff. My favourite dives so far have to be South West Rocks for the big Grey Nurses, and a trip I did to Osprey Reef for a shark feed there.

Like I said... I love sharks... I've only dived with a few types of shark to date, but I'm hoping to encounter a few more next year if I get to do the sardine run in South Africa as planned.

Anyways, that's me in a nutshell

Welcome to ScubaBoard! We have a good group here - especially the Aussies!

You can have a look at our weekly (more or less) diving thread by following the purple link in my signature - be sure to add your own dives so we can be jealous of what you're getting to do, too!

Oh, and if you like sharks - start planning now to come visit me and the whale sharks next year :D

:happywave: and welcome :sblogo:, or my online family as i prefer to call it

we're a big group now so get into the boards and start joining in!

enjoy

welcome aboard

Welcome Jay,
I am sure you will get heaps of info on here. Why dont you do a tour with Rodney Fox out of your neck of the woods? I have friends that had a blast on his tour.

Good Luck

Hi all and thanks for the warm welcome :D

We just got back from holidays in September so blew the budget there. First thing I did when we got home was go to fill the tanks. 20 mins later I'd signed up for my deep course. My wife was suitably impressed

A few weeks on and I'm now looking into doing my deco course. That's gonna require gear upgrades as well, so I'm a bit broke to do any trips to port Lincoln just now!

I'm sure I'll get to it one day, but I'm just as keen to dive the seal colony there as I'm told they're particularly friendly. Ahhh so many places to see and so little cash...

Anyway. Lookin forward to getting to know you all.

Jay
