Hi

I'm actually a Brit but living in Aus so I figure I can hijack their standard greeting!

Been diving for quite a while now. Did my open water 15 years ago in UK, in 11 Deg C (50F) where I could just see my fins on the downstroke but they disapeared into the murk on the upstroke. The only life we saw was 1 small crab in the 4 qualifying dives. For some reason I didn't dive much there ;) (actually I've since discovered that there are some good dives, but they weren't in my early experiences!).

Over the next few years I managed a few holiday dives in the Mediteranean and Red Sea where things picked up quite a lot. Did my AOW on the Great Barrier Reef during a trip to Aus, and then Rescue Diver in Malta.

I relocated to Aus about 5 years ago, living in Melbourne (still cold-ish water, but warmer than UK). Since then most of my diving has been at Lady Elliot Island (warmer, and highly recommended provided you don't need luxurious accomodation) and last year I was priviledged to get to Wakatobi in Indonesia which was totally amazing but isn't cheap or easy to reach.

Somewhere not far along the way I got into underwater photography and have been plugging away with my Olypus C-5050Z for more than 10 years (good quality for a compact in it's day, but major shutter lag compared to the latest. I have a lot of pictures of fish-tails! (and not many of their faces...)). I've decided the time may have come to update my camera, which is what has prompted me to de-lurk, cos I've got some questions to ask!

Maybe see some of you in the photography forums...

Cheers for now!
Chris
