I just took a look at my camera set up and realize I need a new main seal for my canon case. Where are they available if anywhere, thanks in advance for your help.

Call the Official Canon Parts Order Desk at 732-521-7230. It's open M-F 9am-7pm EST.

The cost per o-ring is approx. $16 + shipping ($6?). If you need any extra Canon-branded lube, you might want to order that at the same time. FWIW, some people report that using Tribolube 71 (O2-compatible lube for regs/rebreathers) works well with the Canon o-rings. I have yet to test this out, though.

Determine the proper size then buy a Buna N o-ring for a fraction of the $16. Use generic silicone grease. Should be a standard JIC metric size. Buy a couple so you have spares.

FMOI, how does one determine the proper size of one??....

I would think that digital calipers and a tape measure or measuring stick should help determine the thickness and the overall diameter of the o-ring. It might be a little trickier estimating durometer (hardness) of the o-ring.

When in doubt, I'd just take the o-ring with the camera housing to the o-ring store. I'm sure that the employees at the store could help out.

Well, kinda reinforces my thinking of ordering one for a few bucks more from the manufacturer??....Can't go wrong there.....

Thanks Bubbletrubble...I called canon and ordered 2. I appreciate the help. When I googled it I used the word gasket instead of O-ring ...that was my problem...daaaaa

@diver 85: I see that both of us are using the same UW camera (Canon A570IS). I use the the Canon OEM housing (WP-DC12) with it. It would be nice to get someone...ahem...to figure out what the "generic" size of the housing o-ring. I'm guessing that a replacement o-ring from an o-ring store (not Canon) would cost $1-$2 or less. That's a substantial savings per o-ring. At that price, you could change the o-rings out more frequently and purchase more extras for your save-a-dive kit.

So far, I've been too lazy to figure out the o-ring size. I purchased a couple o-rings a few years ago...and I'm still working on using them. The camera still works great. :D

Rick, I'm glad that I could help.
