In December and January, Wolf and Darwin in the Galápagos are entering the warm season (December–May). The water is warmer (23–27 °C / 73–80 °F) and a bit calmer, with better visibility. Here’s what divers can expect:- Hammerhead sharks
– Still present in large schools, especially around cleaning stations. - Galápagos sharks & silky sharks – Regular sightings, often mixed in with hammerheads.
- Manta rays & mobulas – Warmer waters bring more frequent encounters.
- Whale sharks – Much less frequent than in the cool season (Jun–Nov), but an occasional sighting is still possible.
- Playful sea lions & dolphins – Common around dive sites and often interact with divers.
- Turtles – Green sea turtles are more active, as this is their nesting season.
- Reef fish schools – Barracuda, jacks, tuna, and snappers are abundant.
- Marine iguanas – Less common at Wolf & Darwin, but seen while diving in central islands during this season.
