Hi,

My wife will be traveling to the Galapagos next Jan 2011 (lucky her!). While most of the trip is planned on land she will probably have time for a single dive (one or two tank still to be determined).

Can anyone please recommend:

- Reliable and safe dive operator
- Easy dive site(s): my wife is a new diver and while she does not want to miss to dive at the Galapagos at the same time she does not have the experience to dive the more advanced sites (she just did her OW cert)

Thanks for the help

I think what you are saying here is that she is visiting, but not on a liveaboard.

Out of Santa Cruz Island, one dive-op has gotten consistent positive reviews, that would be SCUBA Iguana. A dive on Academy Bay with the Seals might be just what she was looking for- they do it fairly often.

Hi RoatanMan,

That is correct she is visiting with a land based tour, no liveaboard.

Thanks for your suggestion

Thanks Everybody,

She is being in touch with Scuba Iguana, through her land-based tour op, so that the logistics can be coordinated between land tour and dive day, but she is steering towards Academy Bay or Santa Fe.

Any particular suggestion she should keep in mind to prepare for these dives, other than what can be found in other threads? She has done drift dives quite well (actually only drift dives, as we got certified in Cozumel) but other than that she is a beginner.

Thanks again

For one, depending on when she's going, the water is likely to be a bit colder than what she experienced in Coz. Less viz too.

Mossman,

Thanks, she will definitely need to prepare for lower viz (and big fish nearby), Coz got us spoiled!
