I have the G9/Canon housing setup also. I couldn't find the adaptor in the US so I bought it from Taiwan: "???????? FUN-IN Underwater Photo Equipment"

The transaction was easy, I paid with Paypal and it probably only took about 8 days to arrive, not really any different than a US distributor. I then bought the Inon macro lens from Reef Photo. I've only used it a few dives but it seems to work well.

I have had really good results using the macro mode built in to my G9. I am using it with the Ikelite Auto 35 strobe, but it would most likely work just as well with yours too.

Haven't gone in on anything really tiny with it, but got some great head shots of seahorses sharp as can be.

Hi, I read your post and hope you will give me a hint. I have the G9 in the canon housing and the Ikelite F35 strobe. I have tried the strobe at a bunch of different angles and different settings and I am still getting pictures of white lava rocks underwater (as you probably know, lava is supposed to be black). What am I doing wrong? I will admit that I am not very knowledgable about cameras or photography. Thanks for any help you can give me. Christy

I get some macro shots that wash out, and some are fine. I use the strobe only when needed, and angle it away from the subject. I tend to look at the first shot and adjust as needed.
This was taken without strobe. Depth around 30 ft.

Black is the most difficult to shoot.

Are you using your camera in the "M" mode? Setting your F stops and shutter speeds as well as strobe settings will give you complete control over your lighting.

Try setting the ASA to the lowest (80) and the flash compensation also to the lowest. Make sure you have the diffuser in place on the flash unit. Bend the flash arm around so the flash head is as close to the camera body as possible, maybe a bit behind if you can do it. Back off just a bit and with the camera in macro mode use your zoom to frame the shot you want.
