Great pictures! Where did you stay in St. Croix and who did you dive with? We are hoping to spend time in St. Croix in late Oct or early Nov, any recommendations? Thanks!

Nice! Thank you for sharing. Which housing, strobe(s), lenses are you using with your G9?

Thanks.

KathyV - We stayed with friends in a private residence in Frederiksted so I cannot really recommend where to stay. One thing to note is there are no major hotel chains (Hyatt, Marriott, etc.) on the island. I was going to point you over to Lesser Antilles - ScubaBoard but noticed that you posted over there for suggestions. I saw a few recent threads there on accommodations, restaurants, rental cars, etc. so hopefully someone can give you some good advice. If not, shoot me a PM and I can contact my friends who live on island for some recommendations.

We did a majority of our diving by either a private boat or shore dives but did use N2 The Blue Dive St Croix for several of our dives. I would recommend them as they can cater to all levels of dive experience and they are friendly and knowledgeable. Make sure that you get to dive the Frederiksted Pier. A night dive at the pier as well as a day dive there are a must do!!! If you head up to the North Shore, Cane Bay has some nice wall diving. Scuba St Croix, Cane Bay Dive Shop is a dive shop that we stopped in at for obligatory t-shirts, etc. Good location and again like N2 The Blue, friendly and knowledgeable dive staff. They also have some cottages for rent so you may want to check into those.

Rescue Diver68 – I have an Ikelite housing with a single Ikelite DS-125 strobe. Macro photos I used a single Inon UCL-165M67 close-up lens. I do have the Ikelite wide angle lens but was not happy with my results the few times I used it. I need to give it a good workout to see what I can and can’t do with it next time out diving. This was my 1st chance to really get to use my strobe but think I would like/need a 2nd strobe.

How does the close-up lense attach to the Ike housing?

Screws on to the end of the ports via a 67mm thread.
The wide angle lens screws on the same way.
I have used the INON wide angle and liked the shots I got with it. It allows you to get closer so helps eliminate some backscatter plus turbidity.
It is also helpful for video.

Thank you, I was just wondering if it attached to the housing without changing the port?

My understanding is that the Ikelite G9 housing requires the short port for the wide angle lens and the long (standard) port for close-up lenses, similar to my Patima housing.

BTW, nice pics!
