That 5x zoom means problems...
Please help me out....Why is 5x zoom a problem?

Generally I always ignore the marketing "digital" zoom (since I think you can do that in photoshop anytime you want...)

What is the 35mm equivalent zoom of this camera? The dpreview seems to be lacking things that I can understand.

Or are we at a point where details on this camera are just not available?

P.S. Still looking for my next P&S!
 
5x zoom means that when the lens is at wide end it will be retracted and far away from the housing port. This gives soft corners and tons of vignette and practically means no wet wide angle lenses can work with it. However it might work with new inon zoom lenses we have to see
 
I'm definitely interested, I almost went with the G1x but for the slower focusing and the macro issues led me to the G15, I'd be excited to see a larger sensor for this format. Especially with a wired flash setup.
