G12 ??

OK ... I missed that one, although not stated to replace G12 .....
For me it ticks some of the key boxes ... 3" screen, 1080p video, RAW
With a 1.5" sensor That is a big increase over my Fuji, (and x 6 bigger than G12) hopefully this keep resolution sharp with the large pixel count.


Wonder if it will have a Canon Housing with a standard round screw thraed port ... or the awful rectanglaur type seen on previous Canon housings.
The lens focal length is OK, but aperture is a little disappointing ... be interesting how the Low Light performance is, key consideration for underwater use.


Be good to see a full test review once out ... only 'first glances' so far - however this one Canon PowerShot G1 X Preview: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review
gives hope that Low light at wide angle (what we need) should not be an issue.

That is a pity .. rectangular port ... means round external wet lenses are an issue, without a huge bulky adapter.
Of course you could get a very expensive 3rd party housing

Now all I have to do is find a buyer for my Fuji system.

Despite the fact that I now "always" listen to Quero eyebrow other options exist, depending on what sort of wet lenses you want to attach on a Canon housing.

Thanks for that, and of course individual preferences and opinions are no more than one person's view. FWIW, this person's view, as an owner of both a Canon G-series and the competition is that the Canon takes slightly better macro shots, both with and without the wet lens, so if I liked the OEM housing at all, I'd shoot the Canon all the time and wouldn't even have spent the money on the competition. My own son is a professional photographer, and he was the one who drew me over from Oly to Canon in the first place because of the G-series cameras, but I simply HATE the Canon housing and I can't justify spending a huge amount of money on an Ikelite or other housing for a p/s camera, so that one aspect of it spoils my enjoyment of using the camera itself. Just my opinion, though, and of course YMMV! Now my Canon is "relegated" to the gear shelf for photo students to use....
