I'm looking at getting a G11 on sale for $369 (it's $150 cheaper than G12) and getting an Ikelite housing. I'm wondering if I can use my SeaLife Reefmaster strobe SL96010 (for an obsolete DC500 housing) with the Ikelite housing.

I did ask Ikelite and this is what they said:
"Unfortunately, we do not have an official way to attach other manufacturer's strobes to our housing. You may check to see what size the strobe arm can be attached to. If it is a standard 1.1" flex arm or 1" ball then we do have mounts that will work.
Once you are able to attach the strobe it is only a matter of positioning the fibre optic cord in a way that it picks up the flash of the camera."

Anybody done this or have any suggestions on how to make it work? I'm not sure how to tell if it's a 1.1" flex or 1" ball. It's all Greek to me  Do I need a special cord or adapter? Will the SeaLife strobe attach to the Ikelite tray? If I can reuse this strobe, it would be much better than spending $500 on a new one (I was looking at Ikelite DS-51 strobe package).

Thanks!
