OK.... just sold my old camera and housing and bought the G10, canon housing and an Inon S-2000. I haven't worked with a strobe since I moved from a nikonis and 105 to digital. :D

When I bought the strobe I asked the person who sold it to send me pics or instructions on how to attach the cable but they told me that once I got everything in and looked at it, I would know just what to do.... NOT! :shakehead:

They sold and sent me 2 rubber bush plugs telling me they were needed to attach the strobe to the housing (along with the velcro sandwich / tape stuff) and I have no idea what to do with the plugs. I am going to give them a call to ask them for detailed instructions again however since I'm a visual kinda gal I would really be interested in seeing some detailed pics from anyone using the canon with an Inon strobe showing how/where you attached the fiber optic cable to the canon housing as well as to the strobe.

Any cable to run with the s2000 should have a black plastic cap on one end. That cap screws over the optical sensor of the strobe. To attach to the housing there are several options. Tape, velcro etc. I don't have the housing but you can buy a cable perfectly fitted from either Mike L or from Ryan at Reef.

You have over 500 dives under your weight belt... plus with your Nikonos experience... . sit down... drink a glass of red wine.... and figure out what you must do. Surely you have product info on how to set up the fiber optic cords and internal strobe masks? There are heaps of past photos and info on this forum to help you with your issues with the G-10 and OEM housing. Sort them out..chuck out what will not work for you and start shooting... Here is the kicker... start shooting and bend all the rules.... there are no rules... not even guidelines... a good photo is a good photo from the viewers point of view. Go have fun girl!

Thanks for all the suggestions... especially the wine! ;)

About an hour after I posted this, I figured it all out. When I first looked at the velcro pieces I didn't notice the cut out holes for the plastic plugs. Since I will only be using one strobe I will just have to block the other hole. The bare end of the cable goes through the plug which goes through the cut out in the velcro and then attaches to the velcro taped onto the housing. Think I may put some electrical tape over the to of the plug just to make sure the cable doesn't get pulled out through it during the dive.

I'll be taping exposed transparencies over the camera's flash so shouldn't need anything else to block off the light from it.

Mine came with a wireless connector which works with the G10 & Canon housing. No fibreoptics required :)

Did you have any issues with it going wireless? I've heard several people say that the strobe didn't always synch well and that it was more of a hassle than simply using the cable. Mine came with the wireless setup too.
