Hello Everyone,

I am starting to invest more time into sub photos and decided to get a strobe. I am not a professional so I need to go one step at a time (meaning learning curve and $$$).

I know that the Canon case is not the best option but it was the one I could start with and latter I will upgrade to a better one.

So far I am having a good time with this setting and, after reading lot opinions here, I think that the Ys-110 could be a good starting option for me.

Questions:

1) Will it work well with the Canon Case (WP-DC28)?

2) It the Ys-110 a good option for someone that never worked with a strobe before?

3) Any pros or cons?

Thanks a lot to all the help.

Have a great day!

Great combination and what I use... so yes it works.. the current YS110a replaced the YS110.. I have two YS110's... the improved model corrects some sensitivity issues...and should provide better flash accuracy.

Down side is the case o-ring has to be kept dirt free.. as there is only one...and the case does not work really deep...

There are a lot.. but they will not make any sense unless you have the two in your hands... as a lot are specific settings.

Good luck and enjoy.

Thanks Puffer,

Questions: The o-ring that you are talking about is the Canon Case right? Did you have any problems so far? Have you found a place to order a spare one?

Have a great day!

Puffer,

I just spoke with a store that is selling the Ys-110 and he told me that it will not work with the G10. Do you have any idea why he said that?

You are using the Ys-110 (older model) correct?

What arm are you using with this strobe?

Thanks for the help!

The YS110-A works fine w/ the G-10 in a WP-DC28 housing. Just finished 2 wks using this combo again (sob, yesterday was my last dive day...) getting consistent (for me) exposures uw, so I think I can argue against the store's opinion. The YS-110A has easy & accurate controls, no problem synching etc. You'll use a fiber optic cable to trigger the strobe (do a search, it's practically a weekly question) and follow the instructions that come w/ it and you'll do fine. I found an arm & tray on eBay which wasn't a "brand name" so can't help you there.

INON makes great strobes (have to throw that in or the INON Patrol will get me!) but the YS-110A is no slouch, especially w/ the setup we are discussing and the price should be a bit better than a comprable INON. Use NiMH batteries and you'll be set. Tell the store to do some homework! // ww

Wank,

Thanks for the help but just to make sure we are talking about the same strobe, my question is about the Ys-110 (older model) the yellow one.

What they told me is that just the newer model YS110-A will work, like you just said.

That is why I am confused because I read someone saing that was using the yellow one with the G10.

Can you help with that?

Thanks!

I'm new to learn on taking UW pics and starting to use my G10 + Canon case with one YS-110a several weeks ago.
I found some pretty good advices & pics for reference in one of the thread here, it's abt the use of G10 w/ YS110a. As I'm new member & not be able to post the URL, you can do the search by typing: G10 + wp-dc28 + ys-110a

^_^

Thanks everyone fot the help.

But can someone tell more specific about the Ys-110 (older model) the yellow one. NOT THE YS-110A.

I can´t find it any more, but I think somebody posted that was using the yellow one with the G10.

Can anybody help?

Thanks everybody!

Sorry, been diving this weekend and taking pictures with two YS110 (Not the YS110a's)... there is a small issue with them not being sensitive enought to follow the preflash (meaning every so many shots.. they over expose the image.. maybe one in 10 or 20), but they work really well the rest of the time... I use auto TTL by the way..with the fiber optic cable... a couple of pictures from this weekend:

Sure looks like it works to me.
