It's the only "Dive" watch I've ever used. The one I use has a timer and a temp reading, although it's not the most accurate thermometer I've ever seen it does give you a rough idea of the water temp during the dive.

I like them.

...it's supposed to be "water resistant" to 200 Meters. Deepest dive to date, with the watch on was 112 feet and it's fine. For the little bit a G-shock watch costs, they make a pretty good dive watch. I usually wear mine strapped onto my inflator hose for my BC and use it to time my safety stop.

I have the G-Shock DW-6800 and although it doesn't give any temp info it has all types of timers, alarms with the indiglo blue light. I have had it now for about 10 years and I must say this, with all the abuse it has taken thing is bullet proof because it still looks new. I have only changed the battery on it twice since I purchased it.

joele once bubbled...
hey padipro...
what model is that?

I actually have two differant watches. The one with the temp is the DW-6100. It has a very dim light and a stop watch. The other one, that I use for diving, is the DW-9050. It has the indiglo back light, a stop watch as well as a file for storing names and phone numbers. While I don't exactly need the names and phone numbers while diving I like the indiglo back light as it's very easy to see in low vis.

I've had them for years and have taken both down to 130 feet with no trouble. I don't think I've even had to replace a battery in either one, yet.

my mom will be coming home from san francisco this sunday...
and she bought me a g-shock... i just don't know what model...
can't wait to use it underwater...
i'll tell you about it when she arrives... hehe...

i just got my new g-shock...
nothing fancy, though...
it has a timer, a light, etc. nothing extraordinary...
i have yet to use it while diving...

and btw, the instruction guide states to refrain from using the buttons underwater...
how can i use the timer underwater, then?
can anybody please explain this to me?
thanks...

Method A: Just before you descend switch on the Stop watch and leave it running. That way it gives you an idea how long you have been underwater

Method B: Just leave it set in normal time mode and just remember the time when you need to surface again (using dive table). Then just check your watch often.

I just ordered a Timex Helix D M watch for ~$60 new on eBay. It's a digital watch for divers in that it senses when you are underwater and starts a timer. It also measures depth and temperature.

It's not the end all / be all of dive watches, but the price is right and it will make a great backup once I get a computer.
