Just curious if anyone here has used Sony's FX1 and what they think about its performance.

Also, is the original Betacam from the early 80's and/or DigiBeta some of the best quality you can get in video?

I'm using the FX1 - both above & below water. The quality is pretty good, although it does suffer a bit in low light conditions.
The answer to your other question is yes, if you're talking about Standard Definition, not HD. Thousands of hours of broadcast television are still shot today in both formats.

I've used the FX1 topside and can honestly say I'm not a fan. HiDefPics is dead on with the poor performance in low light situations and if you shoot in any mode "higher" than DVCAM you get major ghosting on a subject with movement. Put it up against the XLH1, HVX200 or even the HD100 and it can't hold a match. Then again I've never been a fan of sony.
