Again, all excellent stuff - much appreciated.

I will switch to my MK25 (on my H-valve) see if that makes a difference.
I enjoy night dives (so long as I've been there before during the day).

Really good replies - I'm going to sift through them again.
I will continue and do comfy dives and enjoy things more until I'm ready.
No need to force it, just makes it worse- thanks for this reinforcement.

I think my dad put me into a bad situation as a kid in a lake (sadistic jerk). Time to dredge up some yukie feelings. Appreciate all the input here.

The other replies in this thread were some of the most encompassing I've read in any post!

FFMDiver, this might be more than what you're looking for, but I spent a lot of time in the pool with mask, fins, and snorkel before I took my class doing a lot of neat drills, and it really, really helped me start off on the right foot. I've had an article with some of these drills at http://divefitness.com/html/articles.html for several years now, and I've gotten a lot of positive feedback from divers with issues similar to yours who have tried them out. It's called "Pool Exercises for Developing Water Comfort," and you might want to check it out.
