I have a company vehicle for work, but on weekends I have a minivan to carry my dive gear and even driving the 15 miles to Venice starts hurting with $4.00+ gas prices. I guess i'll start doing more multiple dives on the days I drive up to Venice instead of a single tank.

Hasn't affected my diving at all ... I just pay more to get there.

Compared to the cost of a trimix fill, gasoline is still a bargain ...

The good dive sites are approximately 45 minutes off shore where I'm at. Because of the increased cost of gas, the local dive ops have raised the local rate by about $10 per diver. My wife and I do one two-tank guided dive per week, so our dive expenses have increased by $20 per week or $1000 per year due to the increased cost of fuel.

I bought a car that gets 32+ mpg instead of driving my truck or mini van. I also drive the car for work and get reimbursed for the miles so the car will pay for itself like the truck did.

Communism and socialism are two different things.
Socialism vs. Communism

Not necessarily. The more popular idea is that communism is a branch of socialism and many others think they are interchangable. But there are various thoughts about it - with your opinion one of many. You can't just post one article and say they are two different things. Also Europe as socialist? Ha, you clearly do not understand either socialism or the current economic climate in Europe.

But back on topic, I've never worried about the price of petrol (now I pay $1.80/L as I get the premium stuff, it is usually about $1.60 in Melbourne). It doesn't reduce the amount of diving I do at all, which is once or twice a week. I have a car that does 750km on 50L, with diving a 220km round trip so it's not too bad as driving to dive sites are the only trips I do in my car. I do take turns with my buddy driving though each week, but more because it is nice to have a break from driving rather than the fuel cost.

Boat dives have gone up by $5 to $55 per dive but yea, that isn't much of an increase so I have not worried too much about it.
