My buddy Matt and I did a dive at Ft Wetherill today (Right Cove, west wall past the goat path). As usual the site was packed with people. I imagine a lot of them were wetsuit divers getting in their last dives of the season.

We did a nice long 74 minute dive to a max depth of 53 ft (average 36 ft). The water temps have plummeted since last week. Last weekend it was 61 degrees F. This week it was 55 degrees F (no thermocline), so we lost 6 degrees in a week! At this rate it will be as cold as Cape Ann in the summer before long! :D

I spotted a snowy grouper on this dive, so there are still a few tropicals managing to survive here.

i was diving in the bay thurs, and friday..
thermocline was about 60 ish, and the temp was actually warmer
i got 55 deg on my 20 fot stop, and had 61 on the bottom..
max depth was 116

That the nice long dive (and poor planning on my part) was part of what caused me to drive back in my drysuit and purchase a p-valve the minute I got home :embarass: First time for everything I suppose.... luckily my wife was out when I got there...

Remember, hose the gear off after the dive not during it! ;)

Chris,

How was the vis??? We are looking to make our final journey of the year out there this weekend.. Air temps look to be in the upper 60's, so we figure we might be able to pull another wet dive off...

Oops... forgot to mention that part...

Vis was probably about 10ft.

Did a night dive @ fourty steps in Nahant tonight. Vis about 4ft. Lobsters still haven't made their journey to the deeper water yet. Hope to grab a few tomorrow. Sid
