I was in Hawaii last week, water was 73 degrees and we had visibility of 150 ft on one day. I got back Friday, so it was tough to force myself back into the drysuit after that, but Matt, Ed and I hit Ft Wetherill today. I guess Hawaii didn't take away all my cold water willpower..... although Ed did have to badger me a bit to get me to agree to dive..... :D

Visibility was 5-10ft. Air temp was 26 degrees (with an evil cold wind), water temp was 39. We went around the point between the coves with a max depth of about 55 ft.

I need to report my dive report also.

Water temp 80+
Max depth well 3 ft.
Sea life: all sorts of micro organisms
Dive time 1 hr.
Very relaxing dive

Vis 100 ft until water got soapy

Glad to see you made it back Chris. Did you post pictures someplace and what is the link again please. Hope you enjoyed your business trip while I'm home struggling with RNA editing and O-chem 2.

Chris

Hey nice picks I really liked the morey eel. Vis looked awsome and seems you had some nice weather.

Really nice

I cannot believe you got back in the water over here after HI!! Surprised you even came back at all!;)
Great pics!
So I see I'm not missing much by being 'beached'. Same ole thing in Jamestown and 1' vis in Rockport?!?!? I've never seen it that bad at Back Beach.... Hope things settle down soon. I'm itchin to go!

Hehe... you get a drysuit... and THEN you stop diving during the winter?!!?!? You are going to ruin Dave's opinion of you! :D

Yeah -- the vis was pretty bad up there. Not sure if it was the small swells we were seeing or the small snow storm that went through on Sat evening....regardless, the vis in the shallows was horrible. Lots of surge in the shallows due to the waves. Adding to the fun was that my buddy lost a fin just a few minutes into the dive....so our dive turned into a shallow water search and rescue mission for his fin. The vis was so bad we never found it (black fin in low vis)...and he lost it before we even went beyond the rock wall on the left of the beach. 20-25 minutes of searching turned up nothing. Good practice for diving in low vis and employing search patterns.....but bummer about the lost fin.

If anyone finds an XXL Scubapro jet fin on Back Beach...let me know...
