Nyxtom and I have become regulars at Ft.Pickens, diving it 18 times in the last month and both being new to the area we are amazed at how quickly the water is warming up and how much life has arrived in the short period of time we have been diving the site. I'm definitely excited to see how Ft.Pickens looks in the summer.
We hit the water at 7:54am and were pleased to see about 15ft of vis. There were large schools of spades, sheephead, and a pink fish that neither of us know what it is.
We usually tie onto the Jeep at 25ft and then head west to 28ft to a rebar shelf that at night houses our octopus buddy we've named Jim and then work our way deeper down to the Pipe Organ and then slowly work our way back up the to the rocks, tires, and end the dive heading east back to the Jeep but decided we'd mix things up and head straight down to the tire from the shore and tie the flag there, and then slowly worked our way deeper out to 51ft where we had found an anchor previously but haven't been able to find since we got our lift bag, so we think it has been buried for now.
After realizing we weren't going to get our anchor we headed south back to where most of the action is at in Pickens (I say most because we have found an octopus and some large grouper out at the few structures out that deep), and had a very relaxing morning hanging out with the large assortment of marine life that has worked its way back to Pickens already.
