I'm parting with my faithful 5-Megapixel C5050Z digicam. I bought it in Spring '04 but seldom used it after I bought a DSLR a year later.

In Fall '07 Olympus replaced the CCD during a factory recall, and also cleaned and recalibrated the camera --so it's in almost-new condition.

The camera comes in its original box with all original accessories, plus the Olympus PT-015 underwater housing made for the C5050Z (used only three times!).

Also included is a Tiffen lens accessory adapter; .7x wide-angle converter; 2x tele converter; UV and polarizing filters; a PhotoSolve ExtendaView eyepiece (to use the LCD monitor as a "thru-the-lens" viewfinder); four Compact Flash cards (two 256-MB & two 1-Gig); and 12 rechargable AA's and charger.

I'm asking for $325 for the whole kit.

Prefer payment via PayPal or USPS money order.

Do you know if the Fantasea tray and strobe would work with this housing?

What was the recall? Curious, had one and it was about to be repaired at one point before I went to a smaller camera.

Some early copies of the C5050Z had a defective CCD. After about a year it would produce badly distorted images which had a purple, green, or grey tint.

In late 2005, Olympus posted a notice on their web site recalling any malfunctioning units. (Google for "Olympus C5050Z advisory"). It was an industry-wide problem, hitting several other digicam makers who had used the same CCD vendor.

While the Olympus service center replaced my CCD, they also gave the camera a complete cleaning and re-adjustment to factory specs --all at no cost to me.

I just saw your posting and realize I'm a bit behind.

I already have the C-5050, but don't have the PT-015 housing. I do a lot of photography on land with an array of SLR's, but not underwater.

My high school son, however, is very interested in developing his skills in underwater photography. He could use the C-5050 if I find a housing.

So, with more background than you probably want, my question is: If you still have your gear, would you be willing to sell the housing and related lenses (without selling the C-5050)?

Best regards.

Greetings, all, and Happy Holidays!

I'm reducing the price of this kit to $280, ground shipping included.

I hope all of you and yours have a wonderful Yuletide season, and a very happy New Year.

(PS: I need to clarify that the Tiffen wide-angle and tele converters aren't for the underwater housing; they screw onto the front of the lens accessory adapter for normal land use.)
