I am sure this has been proposed and dissected numerous times. I am ordering a crushed neoprene drysuit, and am wondering if I should pay the extra $100-200 for the front zipper or just get the rear entry (technically not self-donning). Someone said that I should not because the zipper area on a Bare or DUI crushed neoprene drysuit is stiff when it is up front and it will be uncomfortable. Others say you gotta get the front entry because you definitely want to be able to get it off by yourself. I know there are other configs out there but those are the two that I have to choose from.
Last time I wore a drysuit for any length of time was a DUI tri-lam in the 80's. I had no problem with the rear entry then.
Would be nice to hear from divers who've dived with both styles. Aside from price, why do you dive with a rear entry rather than a front entry and vice versa?
