I was recently looking at fin reviews and saw the Scuba Diving October 2005 review. One of the criteria was "Alternative kicks" which was defined as "Ease and effectiveness of frog and dolphin kicks." The only fin that got a full 5 in the alternative kicks category was the Apollo Bio-fin Pro Yellow C-Series. Deep Outdoors Six-Gill fin and XS Scuba power fin, which are similar to the classic jetfins only got a 4, and Dive-Rite fins did even worse gaining a 3. Now I was under the impression, supported by my own experiences with Tusa Xpert Zooms and SP Jets, that split fins suck for alternative kicks while the jets rock, so what's going on here?

My other question is completely separate from the first one, namely, has anyone tried the XS Scuba Frog Foot fins and how do they compare to the jets?
