Any divers out there who own this BCD? Please leave your views as it is one of my considerations in buying my first BCD. Thanks!

Hello, I have just ordered one in the UK and it is on its way now. It is kind of difficult to find reviews around the net, as the brand Frog does not appear to be widely distributed.
You can find some feedbacks though, mostly on British forums. Probably the UK distributor made some good job selling them.

As far as I have understood, which is also the reason why I bought one, they are almost identical clones of Halcyon wings, and are substantially cheaper. The materials used appear to be the same. I can't say much about their build quality, as I have not received mine yet, let alone the fact that I have never used a Halcyon. All the feedbacks I have read were short of enthusiastic though.

The only complaint I read about so far is from a few people whose belt buckle tends to get loose easily, but that is trivial to replace for a cost next to nothing.

If you are still interested I might be able to tell you more in a week or two, after trying it in the water.

Ciao,
Giovanni

Thanks Giovanni, I would greatly appreciate that! Dive safe and enjoy your trip!

I received the Indigo this week and I tried it in the water last night.

It is my first BP/W, and I had no previous experience with a back inflated BCD. I have used for a few years a bulky Mares Morphos BCD with the air trim device.
I already love my Frog wing, it is way more comfortable than my old BCD. The hog. harness was fun to set-up (never done that before) and it is easy to don and doff. In the water it keeps the wing much more firmly attached than my Mares' harness.

The build quality of the Frog looks very good. I was able to compare it side by side with a Halcyon Eclipse that a friend of mine was using, and neither of us was able to tell the differences in terms of design and materials used. Time will tell if it is as solid as the H.

Weight-wise it is the same as my other Mares, give or take a couple hundred grams, so travelling with a S/S plate plus the STA does not appear to be a big issue. On the other hand I was able to remove 3 kilos from my belt, leaving only 1 kg on it, which I will try to get rid of at the next dive (I am using a semi-dry 6.5 mm suit).

The only thing I was missing last night was the airtrim, but I think I will get used again to a standard inflator in no time. Another plus for the Mares was the higher comfort when floating on the surface, but this is no major problem and I guess it is a common issue with all BP/Ws.

So far I am totally satisfied with the purchase. Considering that in this part of the world (Europe) the Frog Indigo costs over 35% less than the Halcyon Eclipse, I would say it is not worth shelling out the extra cash for the more popular blue-H option (take my advice for what is worth, I do not have an extensive experience).

Ciao,
G.

Thanks very much for your feedback. Hope you have great fun using it on later trips! Ciao!

I was looking for a single tank wing. A friend lent me his Halcyon Eclipse for a dive and 10 dives later I didnt want to give it back. I was so impressed that when I got back to the UK I bought one. I knew of the frog and wanted one but at that time you couldnt get one in the UK and it was going to take too long to import one before my next photo expedition.

I did end up eventually getting a Frog Indigo and was very impressed with it. nearly identicle to the H with a couple of refinements and all the parts are interchangeable. I was so impressed with it that I became the Thailand distributor for Frog.

I hope you are enjoying your Frog Indigo

regards
Kiwidiver

I've not heard of frog till very recently but you don't need a ss plate unless you dive cold. Already, a complete alu plate setup is about 3kg including all the hardware so you really don't need an ss plate.

I have recently gotten a couple of these setups for friends of mine and I too use a Mach V wing.

AL back plate w/ Oxycheq Hog Harness & Oxycheq Mach V wing [DROCpkg] - $375.00 : Cave Adventurers!, We will NOT be undersold!!!

This is more than enough for diving in this region.

Frog is a Halcyon knock-off. They work well and looks durable. I prefer my H thou.
