Hello everyone. I have never dived but am very interested. My buddy that was going to go diving with me after I was certified moved. Where can someone find a dive partner. I don't want to get certified and not be able to go. Wast of money.

Hey Icope, welcome to SB. You can probably find a dive buddy here on the board.
Try posting an introduction in here ScubaBoard.Com > Scuba Board Matrix
Introductions and Greets

Then you can start talking with people in your area here. ScubaBoard.Com > Regional Travel & Dive Clubs > North America > United States
Great Lakes Wrecking Crew

i waited 3 years for my 'dive buddy' and i to become certified. always got the "yes we should" but there was always an excuse on his part.

i said screw it and got certified without him. i now have two guys i dive with and we have a great time. met one while at work, i was wearing a "dive" t-shirt and he asked "you dive".. the second i met on the internet.

it's easy if you look

icope, welcome to the wonderful world of scuba. Depending on where you are in Wisconsin, there might be a dive club in your area. I would also recommend networking in your local dive shop. I hear there are a lot of good dive sites in Lake Superior and Lake Michigan...otherwise, there are supposed to be some good quarry dives in central Wisconsin. Good luck in your buddy quest.

Don't give up! There are several dive cluds aound WI. Go on the Hoofers.com (UW Madison dive club) You wll find a list of many others them. Get connected and get down!! Where do you live??

Where in Wisconsin are you?

Also go to: wiscuba.com. You can find a buddy list there. You could also visit a local dive shop and ask. Many of them have group dives with cheap gear rental for their particular dives. Divers Realm out of Appleton does them on Wed. evenings during July. 3 Little Devils does them on Sunday afternoons and Tuesday evenings all summer and only charge $20 for all the gear you need. You meet lots of other divers and can gain lots of experience under the leadership of a dive pro (DM or Instructor). I think a shop in Madison does something very similar on Tues. evenings and Wazee Sports has fun dives on Wed. evenings in Lake Wazee.

Don't put off certification because one person won't be diving with you. Once you're a diver and start looking you'll find lots and lots of us obsessed people.
