Hi Matt,
Congratulations on your cert!

BTW, I'm in lovely Fresno too. I just got back in the water after a bit of a layoff. If you're interested in diving let me know.

Take care,
-Bill

Congrats. Drop on down to the CLUB section of this board and check out the California Kelp Divers section. Not sure where Fresno would fit, North or South? But you will figure it out.

Hello... just got Open Water certified on Phi Phi island in Thailand, now I'm back in California and want to dive!

How was the weather....who did you dive with?

hey,
Welcome to Scuba Board! It's great to have you!

Thailand? Oh, it must have been very interesting. I think you'll find this site is a lot like diving -- it's insanely addictive. But who cares, it's all in good fun. Hope to see you around the board.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Welcome to Scuba Board. Dont forget to scroll down to the club section and check out Califronia Kelp Divers. You will have to decide if you are NoCal or SoCal or both. Not really a club, just a place for local divers to discuss matters of local interest, like who wants to dive tomorrow at such and such place.

Hello from Matt, :thumb:

Welcome to SB! :1poke: I came here to look for help with my scuba diving dream and the response has been fantastic. So, I know you will enjoy being a member here.
There are a lot of nice and informative scuba divers. It's a good place to meet other divers and share experiences and dreams. Take care from Matt. :snorkels:

Hey everyone!! Thanks for the warm welcome!!

To answer some Q's... I was certified through UCSB with Ed Stetson. I am always up for a dive... that is if I can get the day off of work!! ;)

BTW... THOMAS we were in Aquatic Bio together at UCSB... remember Sayuri??!! That's me!

Hey Matt,

Welcome to travelling to another world without the 3million dollar price tag! Diving is the bomb, it's the best thing in the world as far as I'm concerned.

I'm in the East Bay, bout 2 hours from u. Monterey has some great diving. Cheapest way to continue to dive a lot is beach diving, but the entry and exits suck! Diving is great though. We have some of the best diving around. Haven't done any east coast, but we beat out Catalina and Cabo San Lucas, hands down. If you get the opportunity to dive those places, do it, they're really nice dives. But I'm spoiled. I don't need 30' visibility to see schools of fish, kelp, starfish, sanddabs, sanddollars, sea lions, otters, etc. 5-10' vis sucks, but you see so much here, there's just SO much life in Monterey. Best times to dive Monterey to my understanding is during the fall/winter months. Visibility goes up quite a bit, anywhere from 30-50'. This summer we've had a lot of 20'+ visibility days.

There's lots of diving clubs up here, check them out. Its a great way to find a buddy to dive or where you should dive with experience level, what other people's experiences are, and usually there are planned trips to other places, boat diving, etc.

Have fun, remember to be safe and BREATHE!!....And most of all, don't forget to ENJOY yourself. :monkeydan
